駒ベラ

友禅糊（糸糊）をムラなく捺染するために用いる道具。材質は桧（ひのき）、桜などで、柄によって大、中、小を使いわける。

A tool used to apply Yuzen paste (thread paste) evenly during printing. Made from materials such as cypress or cherry wood, different sizes—large, medium, and small—are used depending on the pattern.

突彫り

中央に二センチぐらいの円い孔があいた板の上に紙を置き、刀刃を前向きに構えて文様の形を一突きずつ彫り進む。

Place the paper on a board with a circular hole about two centimeters in diameter at its center. Hold the blade facing forward and carve the pattern shape one thrust at a time.

道具彫り

正方形・三角・櫻の花弁といった単位文様の道具で、紙を垂直に押し抜く。文様には、角通し・十字・鱗などがある。

Using tools with unit patterns such as squares, triangles, and cherry blossom petals, the paper is pressed vertically to create impressions. Patterns include square-through, cross, and scale designs.

錐彫り

半円形の小さい錐を指頭で回転させて、細かい円形を抜いて文様を作るもので、鮫・霰などがある。

A small, semicircular chisel is rotated with the fingertip to carve fine circular patterns, creating designs such as shark skin and hail.

引彫り

小刀を用いて刃を手前へ引いて彫るので、縞彫りともいう。

Using a small knife to carve by pulling the blade toward oneself, it is also called strip carving.

伸子

型染で、友禅樹を型紙に乗せた時の型のバランスをとるために両端に刺し留め、張り伸すのに用いる竹製串形のものである。
両端には鉄または真鍮の針を植え込んである。

A bamboo skewer used in stencil dyeing to balance the stencil when placing the yuzen tree pattern on the stencil paper, securing it at both ends and stretching it taut.
Iron or brass needles are embedded at both ends.

突彫り用板

直径2～3センチの穴のあいた板で朴の木が使われる。

A board with holes 2 to 3 centimeters in diameter is used, made from magnolia wood.

刷毛

型染でボカシ染が美しく染上がるには、固くもなく柔らかくもない鹿の毛で作った刷毛が最上である。
用途により大丸、中丸、小丸、さし刷毛などがある。

For achieving beautiful gradation in stencil dyeing, brushes made from deer hair—neither too stiff nor too soft—are the finest.
Depending on the application, there are large-round, medium-round, small-round, and dip brushes.

絵刷り

型紙を彫った後に紙を染めて上の1～30までの番号で配色していく。

After carving the stencil, dye the paper and apply colors according to the numbers 1 through 30 on top.

図案

図案家さんと打ち合わせをしながら柄を製作していく。

We create patterns while consulting with the pattern designer.
